My Year In Photos

Because I'm an offical Foto Pherret, I have to post this year wrap up photo meme.

In photos show us the highlights of your year, and tell us a bit about them.

OK, let's get started then.

This isn't necessarily going to be in order.

My new kitten: Oreo aka Oogie.

The opening of the new welcome center at Phipps Conservatory this past spring.

Many trips to Wheeling to see the beautiful bridges.

Atlantic City!

And the concerts we saw there!

The Elvis Costello show one week after the Moody Blues show!

Visiting the Palace of Gold near Moundsville, WV.

Not to mention getting chased by one of the peacocks!

And yes, I was chasing back with the camera!

Labor Day at Idlewild!

Ohiopyle! You've got to love waterfalls, right?

Hallow Boo!

Cincinnati to the Moody Blues!

Merry Christmas, Pittsburgh Style!

It was a very photogenic year.

The Hump Day Hunt

A brand spanking new photo meme called Foto Pherrets!

The rules are simple:
Each week I will post a random word here. Go forth, Foto Pherrets, and ferret out a photo that you think suits that word! It may be one you've taken yourself or one that you've found some other way, the Foto Pherrets don't care!

Post it on your blog, and tell us why you selected that particular photo. Be creative, but most of all, HAVE FUN!

In honor of the spirit of the season, this week's word is:
Holiday

This year I was particularly taken by the huge Christmas tree at PPG Place in Pittsburgh. There's something beautiful about the tree and the building that surrounds it. This picture seems to capture the spirit of the season. It was also the first time in my 31 years that I've actually seen the holiday decorations in downtown Pittsburgh, making this shot all the more special for me.

Scenes From Christmas Morn

Church photos never seem to come out properly for me. These few shots are testament to that. These are all shots from my parish, Mary Mother Of The Church, taken on Christmas morning after the 8 a.m. mass. The only shot that I like is the one of the Christmas tree. I guess I'll try again on Sunday before all the decorations go away.

The Christmas Trees

These are the two trees that we put up in our house for the holiday. One is in our living room and the other is in my computer room.

And of course, the Moody Blues December Ornament takes the place of honor on the tree!

And my other special Christmas ornament, Oogie!

Kaufmann's Windows

At Christmas our local department store does beautiful animated windows for the holiday. It wasn't easy to get these shots without getting a reflection through the window, but I think I managed nicely.

In the 31 years I've lived near Pittsburgh, and that's all my life, this was the first year that I saw the windows in the downtown store. They were absolutely beautiful.

The Many Faces Of Oogie

My kitten is so damn cute, and so damn ornery. It only takes one look at his face to see that. After all, he is a pain in the Oogie, which is why his real name "Oreo" is seldom used.

Perfection

There's just something about this tree that I really love. I took at least twenty shots of it in the two visits I made to Pittsburgh in November. I guess next to the Cathedral of Learning, the PPG Christmas Tree is my favorite thing in Pittsburgh

Flowers & Trees At Phipps

Though this wasn't my favorite flower show of the year, there certainly were plenty of beautiful things to see, as well as the cute animals of the enchanted forest, some of which decorated the trees throughout the conservatory.

Here are a few more shots from our hectic trip to Pittsburgh about 2 weeks ago. I'm still trying to forget the mayhem of that Sunday.
