As a little girl I always wanted to stick my feet in the waters of the Youghiogheny River when my family went to Ohiopyle, but my mother would never let me. She was probably afraid that I'd get caught up in the current and go washing away down the falls.
But in recent years, the park has let people swim and sunbathe in areas closer to the falls than when I was growing up, so this year I got to make my feet very happy.
And boy was that water cold!

The Youghiogheny
You've seen the pictures of the falls at Ohiopyle and some of the fabulous view on the walking path/bike trail at the park, but what of the river itself?
The Yough as it's called by people in the area is by no means a mighty river. Sometimes it's barely there, other times its a force to be reckoned with. It's one of the Twin Rivers. The other is the Monongahela that runs past the town I live in.

Insanity
For crying out loud, it's not even Halloween yet!
Some Christmas stuff I can handle, but full on trees and ornaments? That's just wrong on so many levels I can't begin to say.
I wonder how many people have Steeler trees? Lordy I hope the number is small.
I want one of these! But I refuse to buy any ornaments until after Halloween!

Cuteness
Just a few shots of 2 of my cats. The ginger kitty, as my friends in the UK will call him, is Mutchka. The kitten is Oreo, the kitten that managed to adopt us. I think it's quite possibly cornered the market on cute. It's very playful and sweet and has teeth as sharp as needles when it decides to nurse my fingers!
It's a good thing I don't need those sneakers much, because Oreo has stretched the shoelaces and chewed on them quite a bit.
